We Are Not In Kansas Anymore

After our lovely send off with sparkling cider and strawberries with a pretty good cupcake, it only got better.  Not having flown with complimentary drinks and hot food since Aero Mexico, I continue to feel somewhat miffed at our domestic US airlines and their ever increasing motivation to want to make a buck, to the detriment of the passenger. We even received a BA pin that states on the backdrop of the British flag "keep calm and fly DEN-LHR" which I will wear on my hat with pride.

Upon arrival at Heathrow it was clear after sitting on the runway waiting for our gate to open that we were going to be close on our connection to Paris.  When we finally deplaned there was an agent holding up a sign for our connection. After giving her the signal, she waved us on and the three of us took off running, all the while the agent saying we were probably going to miss the flight.  If we missed the flight to Paris we would then miss our next connection to Biarritz.  Who planned this trip?

We literally ran under the train tunnel with the agent, Jeanette, removing her heels so she could run faster. I didn't realize our training for the Camino would be continuing in such a way!  All the while I felt a kind of calm knowing that we would make it.  That was after I decided to just trust no matter what.  John said later, after high fives making the gate as the last souls on board, that he felt the same sense of calm.  "Keep calm"and trust British Airways to come through when you need them to.  We would not get this kind of service in the states Im sorry to say.

We made it to Paris in time to catch our Easyjet flight but alas our box of hiking sticks and knife did not.  We may get them delivered tomorrow at our hotel in Bayonne....or not. At least it wasn't our backpacks.

    1. Thanks Jim. I'm wondering about my pack and if I brought enough but I don't want to carry any of it tomorrow. It's another world here and a very cool experience.
